About the practice
Four people who will know your name.
Arthur Meridian and James Rowe opened this practice in 1989, two desks above a stationer’s on College Road. The desks are better now. The idea has not changed: careful work, explained properly, for people within walking distance of the office.
The people
Eleanor Rowe FCA
Managing Partner
Did the post run in this office as a teenager; now signs the accounts. Looks after advisory work and the clients who have been here longest.
Priya Shah ACA
Partner
Limited companies and VAT. Known for returning calls before you have put the phone down, and for margin notes that explain everything.
Daniel Okafor ACA
Payroll Manager
Runs the payroll desk: several hundred payslips a month, none of them late yet. Keeps a wall calendar of every client's payday.
Margaret Lin
Practice Manager
The first voice on the phone and the keeper of the deadlines diary. If we have promised you something, Margaret knows when.
How the office runs
Habits of the house
We explain the workings
Every filing comes back to you with a plain-English note of what it says and why. If you cannot explain your own accounts after we have, that is our failure, not yours.
We are early, structurally
Deadlines are met months out, not days. The diary is built so that a January rush is impossible, which is precisely why clients stop dreading January.
We stay small on purpose
Four people, one office, no account managers between you and the person doing the work. Growth that would break that is growth we decline.
Come and meet whoever answers the phone.
It will probably be Margaret. The kettle is usually on between nine and half past five.
